Together, they strive to address some of the region’s biggest challenges, particularly poverty and environmental degradation. Habitat loss and illegal poaching have posed serious threats to the survival of mountain gorillas, and we work closely with the Noble Gorilla Foundation to educate the community and promote sustainable alternatives to these harmful practices. This collaboration enables them to fund further development projects, create jobs, and inspire a shared responsibility to protect the Kigezi region’s invaluable wildlife.
Reviving Gorilla Populations through Sustainable Coffee Farming

In 2019, a gorilla census recorded a significant increase in the mountain gorilla population, rising from 800 to 1,200 individuals. By offering stable incomes to those who once depended on poaching or harvesting from the gorilla forests, we are reducing the pressures on this precious ecosystem. Former poachers now work alongside us as farmers, cultivating coffee that supports their families and empowers their community.

Tourism has surged as a result of this flourishing wildlife, bringing additional revenue to the region and creating jobs in guiding, hospitality, and conservation.
